I'm interested in capturing the emotion and energy of talented artists and their audiences. I like to explore the connection between the band and the fans, how the fans feed the band with their energy and how emotions are exchanged between the two.

I'm mostly drawn to small, dark clubs since it is there where the band and their fans truly communicate. Large arenas will inevitably put distance between them.

"The most startling work amongst the [contributing photographers to the PopView 2009 Exhibition] is a spectacular series of live shots that completely turns the tables on 'celebrity culture'.

In Kalle Bjorklid's images, musicians play support to the audience. He squeezes himself and his camera into the narrow gap between performer and audience so we can see how one affects the other, then uses Photoshop in a subtle but powerful way to combine strong elements of gothic fantasy with Viking history. Each image pays homage to the power generated by live rock music, and his vision of intertwined bodies, flying ropes of hair, orgasmic singers and blessed-out fans is utterly original and riveting."
